Arch City Defenders is working hard to raise awareness, facilitate education and create a safer, more equitable city. To support their mission, we set out to create a campaign that would bring their story to life in a bold, disruptive way and speak directly to St. Louisans who want to be a part of critical change.
The biggest challenge? We needed to expose people to a problem that wasn’t on their radar. The notion of “The American Dream” is hardwired into our brains. The idea that if you work hard, you can have a happy, successful life no matter who you are. Most people, especially the privileged, don’t realize the playing field isn’t level.
The game is rigged against poor communities of color. For their dreams to be realized, they need to be free to pursue them without interference from systems designed to hold them back. Our goal was to show how ArchCity Defenders is making a difference and incite action.
